I want this page to give you a sense of who I am and if I'm a good fit for you. The most important thing is that you're comfortable with and trust the therapist you choose. My goal is to deeply understand and feel your experience, so that I can help you past any blocks or traumas or in the case of couples work, facilitate more open and nurturing communication.

Oftentimes, the behaviors and feelings you tell me you want to change have served an important purpose for a long time. They have protected your heart and even kept you physically safe. It's important that we honor that. I am here to support you, guide you to understanding, and challenge you to take new steps to create a new story. My work with people in times of strife has taught me some important lessons. One is that sharing your story in a safe space with people you trust facilitates the natural healing process, allowing you to reengage in life, AND to thrive and build healthy, meaningful relationships. Secondly, I know that we all have an innate capacity to heal, but sometimes our conditioned thoughts, coping mechanisms, and habits can cloud that powerful reservoir within.

My journey to the counseling field was a winding road. For ten years I worked in the software industry and although I found success and rewarding challenges there, I knew that my heart was not in it. Being the empathic and sensitive person that I am, I knew that I wanted to use these gifts to help others. I had also been through a long healing process of my own during which I discovered the power of therapy and the therapeutic relationship. This transformation wasn't easy. Like so many of us, I was conditioned to believe that I should follow a certain path even if it didn't bring me joy. I knew that following my heart was my way to freedom. It's because of this that I especially love working with clients who want to discover and use their unique gifts but need some support to get there.

I'm happy to call North Carolina my home and enjoy serving this community. Prior to moving to the Triangle area, we lived in South Carolina, Oregon, and Florida; and although I have lived all over the country I consider myself a Southeastern girl at heart.
